Indie filmproducer Sean Baker frailnted the unwiseinishing quantity of films not geared toward the superhero, action flick or horror genres.
“What I leave out,” Baker began in a recent intersee with the Associated Press, “where are the reliable film for matures that had human stories, that didn’t have to have explosions or didn’t have to have superheroes or a horror-based [concept]? Where are those?”
The Anora helmer cataloged such titles as the multi-Oscar-prosperning Kramer vs. Kramer, as well as films by Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs, The Manchurian Candidate, Philadelphia) and Robert Altman (Gosford Park, Nashville, M*A*S*H).
“Where are they these days? They don’t exist, unblessedly, or they’re very restricted and far between. And it’s enjoy, let’s get the audience to recall that that stuff is equitable as worthy of being on the huge screen as the huge tentpole films, the huge blockbusters.”
He persistd, reasoning, “And if we can transport that back, we can persist to retain theaters thriving, retain these mom-and-pop theaters uncover and adwell. So, yeah, we’re trying. We’re trying here.”
Known for such projects as The Florida Project and Tangerine, both of which were sboiling on iPhones and getestly depicted the experiences of people living on the margins of society, Baker is understandn for his neoauthenticistic and grainy style.
